For many years Carolyn was an Elf for the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department’s various Christmas Celebrations. Whether celebrating Santa Saturday at the firehouse, traveling with Santa through the neighborhood or for the last few years riding along with Santa during the OVFD’s annual Holiday Parade, Elf Carolyn was there. She made her last appearance via video link from her hospital room weeks before her passing. As far as the children knew, she was Skyping them directly from the North Pole.

The Fire Department members chose to honor Carolyn’s spirit by parading in her honor and by coordinating their fund raising efforts in her memory. 

​

Carolyn’s Elves was formed out of their devotion.

​

The OVFD and Carolyn's Elves members want to see a world in which every child has a Backpack and supplies on the first day of School and can open a present on Christmas Morning.

​

In addition, Carolyn’s Elves supports the McNamara family and friends and an all-volunteer group in collecting new and gently used clothing and toys for children in need in the Philippines. Items collected are delivered to orphanages and organizations supporting underprivileged communities during the holiday season.

​

Carolyn’s Elves has walked at the annual Leukemia, Lymphoma Societies Light the Night Walk raising funds to defeat these cancers.

​

Carolyn loved children and Christmas. She was committed to bringing joy to others during the holidays and by her work in the Medical profession.

Carolyn’s Elves is motivated by her spirit and her memory.
